The grand news that Yonex delivered in 2013 was the launch of their most famous badminton racket all around the world. Yonex launched the much-awaited badminton racket of all time which is Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket. This racket gained all the popularity that it has today because of the video released by Yonex when a shot was hit from this racket. You might wonder what is so special about this racket and what was there in this racket that people were so keenly waiting for the launch. In the video, released by Yonex world record was made of delivering the fastest shot. This makes Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket the fastest badminton racket in the world. This success was also recorded in the Guinness record book. In 2013 with the release of the video all the aspiring badminton players showed keen interest in this racket.
It might come to you as fascinating that Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket broke the record of another Yonex badminton racket to become the fastest badminton racket. The smash that was hit with this racket was 493km/hour. Do you know the speed that the smash acquired is faster than the record set by the world’s fastest car, fascinating, isn’t it? I guess now you know why players went crazy when the news came around. The promise of delivering the most powerful smash was made by this racket and many players are still tempted to get this racket because of the promise. But the name of this racket suggests that it must be a head-light badminton racket but it is not.
This question has baffled a lot of people including me. Let’s take a look at why a “Nanoray” badminton racket is not a head-light racket and is a head-heavy badminton racket.

Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket
Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket is a head-heavy badminton racket, sounds weird, right? I know, it sounded weird to me too. We all assumed that a badminton racket from the Nanoray series must be a head-light racket as its name suggests the same. I bet, a lot of people were baffled as to why a badminton racket that has been named Nonoray is a head-heavy racket and not a head-light racket? This was because Yonex has always separated their badminton rackets according to there features. Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket comes to be head-heavy badminton racket with a stiff shaft that features the new isometric head shape which is a bit smaller.
From my personal experience, I liked the new head shape as it increased the sweet spot of the stringbed. The new head shape was an improvement that all the players loved about this racket. The previous editions of this racket had a lot of framing issues that not only I but a lot of players encountered. This badminton racket weighs somewhere between 85-89 grams which comes under the 3U category. The 3U category is considered to be one of the most ideal weights for a badminton racket. Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket comes with G5 grip which is a bit smaller for badminton players. They have also released an edition with G6 grip too.
Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket comes in bold bright orange colour. The ferrule is black with some decals on the throat and the shaft of the racket. The racket comes pre-strung. The ink on the stringbed comes off just after scoring a few points, which is a little annoying. This racket should come unstrung as advanced and professional players like to get their rackets custom strung.

Before I go further with the review I would like to clear one thing up. The world record was made by Tan Boon-Heong and we are not even anywhere near his standard but we can just try. So, do not expect this racket will improve your smashing skills. In fact, no one and o racket can do it for you. To become a better badminton player you need to practice harder and longer. Anyway, let us get back to the review. As you get to the court the first thing that you will notice is how easy it is to use. You will notice that is quite easy to cut through the air due to its excellent head frame. It does not take a lot of energy to swing the racket.
As I mentioned earlier the head of the badminton racket is compact which makes it such an efficient badminton racket. The racket features a stiff shaft and compact head, the combination of these two make hitting clears a bliss. Though, it might take you a little while to adjust to the speed of this racket. Although, while delivering overheads this racket gave a hollow feeling and not a solid feeling. For players who have no problem with this can definitely go for this racket. For players who like to have a solid feeling while hitting the shuttlecock can check out Duora Z-Strike Badminton Racket. The drop shots with Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket are effortless and swift. The head heaviness of the racket gives the shuttle a keen flight over the net.
Conclusion:
In conclusion I would just like to say that it was a pure bliss playing with this excellent badminton racket. This racket is not meant for beginners and probably not for intermediate players too. Everybody is unoque and it is possible that this racket is one for you. I would just suggest that you take the decision of getting Yonex Nanoray Z Speed Badminton racket wisely. I would again like to remind you that a badminton racket can not improve your badminton skills, you will have to work harder and longer to improve your sills.
